There’s a song I sometimes hear on the radio: “Sunshine After the Rain.” And on Saturday, 6th April 2024, that couldn’t have been more true.

The day before, Sydney had been drenched in a major downpour, and I was preparing myself to marry Jayde and Jakeunder stormy skies. But when I arrived at the stunning Miramare Gardens in Terrey Hills, the clouds had cleared, and the sun was shining brightly—just in time for their big day.

With around 200 guests, this was one of my larger weddings, and the atmosphere was full of excitement as everyone gathered to celebrate. I set myself up, said a quick hello to Jake and his groomsmen, and before long, it was time.

Jayde entered in her breathtaking gown, walking arm in arm with her dad. With the biggest smile on her face, she joined Jake at the altar. As the music faded, I welcomed them with:

“Hi Jayde. How is the day?”

“It’s been busy, Chris,” she replied with a laugh.

From there, we let the moment settle, before moving into a ceremony full of love, joy, and laughter—ending, of course, with that magical moment of pronouncing them husband and wife.
